This is what's called a "Gone With the Wind" lamp. the originals date back to the late Victorian era, but examples like this tend to postdate the 1930's. These "Gone with the Wind" type lamps have gone through several periods of popularity, the 1940's and again in the 1980's. Currently though demand for them is very weak, at auction one like this would go for under $75.00.
