Vintage William Fuld Ouija Board No. 600

Item Description

This is an original vintage Ouija board set from the early 1970s, manufactured by Parker Brothers in Salem, Massachusetts, under the branding of William Fuld, the creator credited with popularizing the "talking board" design. The set includes:

  • The classic No. 600 fiberboard Ouija board with the "Mystifying Oracle" logo
  • The original white plastic planchette with transparent viewing window
  • The original box featuring a robed spectral figure with “OUIJA” boldly printed in white across the front

Materials

  • Board: Solid fiberboard (rigid, unbending, dark tone)
  • Planchette: Injection-molded plastic with clear window
  • Box: Cardboard with printed graphics (moderate edge wear)

Dimensions

  • Board: Approx. 12" x 18" x 0.75"
  • Weight: Approx. 1.5 lbs

Condition

  • Board: Excellent – lettering is crisp, finish is intact, no warping or major flaws
  • Planchette: Excellent – fully intact with clear lens and smooth movement
  • Box: Fair to Good – structurally sound, some edge wear, light corner separation and minor tears, typical of storage and age

Historical Context

William Fuld boards produced by Parker Brothers in the 1970s remain some of the most desirable post-war examples. After Parker Brothers acquired rights in 1966, they retained Fuld’s branding through the early 1990s. Boards from this transitional period — particularly those manufactured in Salem, MA before production moved to other facilities — are considered collectible and authentic representations of mid-century occult and pop culture history.

Collector Appeal

Collectors value these for their:

  • Nostalgic and pop-cultural association with the 1970s occult revival
  • Design continuity with earlier William Fuld boards
  • Solid construction quality pre-dating modern cardboard versions
  • Original box and planchette included — rare in complete form

Estimated Market Value (as of 2025)

  • Fair Market Value: $75 – $125 USD
  • Retail (Dealer) Value: $125 – $165 USD
  • With pristine box and provenance: $165 – $200+

Prices may increase slightly based on completeness, display quality, and buyer interest in retro paranormal collectibles.

Recommendations

If you plan to sell:

  • List it on eBay, Etsy, or a vintage games collector forum
  • Highlight “William Fuld,” “Parker Brothers Salem MA,” and “No. 600” in the title
  • Include high-resolution photos of the front, back, box, and planchette

If you're unsure of exact dating or if the box/planchette differs from standard editions, a professional appraisal through a certified vintage toy expert or a site like WorthPoint may be worthwhile for insurance or sale purposes.
