Glazed ceramic ( pottery or china?) ewer

By clown330, 27 September, 2011
Description

This is a very unusual ewer in very good condition.  It had been at my grandmother's in Ohio until her death in 1976.  Before she inherited it, my great, great uncle had it in his home in Covington KY until his death in 1929 at the age of 94.  He had many lovely things, paintings, Victorian furniture, silver and boxes of books from as far back as 1731.   The design over the entire pitcher is floral and leaves with a scalloped edge on the top.The handle attaches in three places: at the top of the neck,at  the bottom of the neck and again on the bowl.  There are no chips and only one small crack (see 3rd photo) that runs along the handle by the bottom of the neck and under the handle.  The crack does not go through to the other side nor the top.  It is hardly visible.
