strange small bottle with inside glass insert

Category
Glass
Condition
Excellent
Description

What I have here is a small glass bottle. It no longer has a lid, but it has this strange glass inner wall near the top of the inside of the bottle. It is clear, and stands 2 1/2" tall and the diameter of the opening is about an inch and a half. There are no company names on this bottle. On the bottom is inscribed patd 1759866. I'm really curious as to what this bottle was really used for. I've come into quite a few vintage and antique items lately, mostly glass- and I am just getting to know about the world of jars, bottles, and other breakable things. Grateful for any help, thanks.

Papa Stahl's Wild Stuff Cookbook

Category
Books and Manuscripts
Condition
Fair
Description

Here is a really interesting piece of cookbook history lost. It is a book called "Papa Stahl's Wild Stuff Cookbook" and it talks of using rarely though of ingredients such as daylilly tubers, sassafras, cattail, acorn flour, and other items. The book has 39 pages, paperbound and stapled. I have a feeling that this item is a very rare example of this fascinating book. I have found a little bit of information about Papa Stahl on the internet but I haven't really run across much about this book. If anyone has any hints, I would welcome them.

Hot Shot bug killer glass one quart

Category
Glassware and Crystal
Condition
Good
Description

I dug this little beauty up the other day. I've tried to find a price estimate, but have not found anything referring to the Hot Shot bottle. This and the fact that these bottles probably often got busted and almost always were thrown away. It has no lid, and has one small fracture chip on the lid. Otherwise, it is in great condition. Height of this bottle is about 8 1/4". Any feedback would be appreciated.

the strange blue orb

Category
Glass
Condition
Good
Description

This is a strange item. At first I thought it was a target ball, then a lightning rod ball, now I have no idea. The whole ball stands about 3 1/4" tall. On the top is a rusted lid, which is about an inch in diameter. On the bottom is an interesting little node. It is round and then flat on the bottom. It extrudes about a quarter of an inch and has some screw thread wrapped around. The bottom is closed, and the top lid has a small hole in it and as stated before, is in rusted condition. The color is a nice sort of teal blue and it catches the light fantastically. If anyone can help me identify this strange little piece, I would really appreciate it.

ball and claw amethyst bottle with spelling error

Category
Glass
Condition
Excellent
Description

This is a normal ball and claw amethyst bottle except when you look closer at the lettering on the side. Instead of "ball and claw", the bottle is imprinted with "ball amd claw" with the word and being mispelled. This looks to be a genuine ball and claw bitters bottle to me, just with a misspelling. Could someone please tell me if this is a genuine error or some sort of repro? Also, if it is an error, can you tell me how many are known to exist? The bottle is 8" tall and says "ball amd claw bitters" on BOTH sides of the bottle. On the bottom of the bottle it says "made in taiwan".
