Curved chair with beautiful wood

By ChristineIsHere, 27 June, 2021
Description

Hi everyone, I hope someone will help me find out more about this chair. I found it at the road and I fell in love and I plan on giving it a new life but it will be my first project but I do not know anything about furniture ...can someone please tell me what kind of chair is this be called and what style is it and especially what year approximately was it made? Any details that you feel you can tell me to fill in the blanks would make my day. Thank you all for reading my post and viewing the pictures.

Re: Curved chair with beautiful wood

Not much info here and don’t know if it’s correct but here’s the first I found that’s similar to yours, one on right https://www.ebay.com/itm/193060097824
This too https://www.ebay.com/itm/114839738213
I’m not an expert, just googling but this search term seems to find similar chairs VICTORIAN STYLE BARREL CHAIR UPHOLSTERED

If @ Lovejoy checks in I think you’ll get a more precise and knowledgeable answer.

Re: Curved chair with beautiful wood

Thank you so much for those leads and especially for taking the time to help me find any information. I also suspected it was victorian but like i said, I know nothing about furniture let alone antiques so i had alot of self doubt but your direction gave me confidance. Any thoughts or guidance provided here is a kind gesture that I appreciate so very much and it will help me along in my first project.

Re: Curved chair with beautiful wood

This chair actually dates from the 1920's through mid 30's, it is in the Victorian Revival style, which often mixed in the then very popular Art Deco style. These were often part of a matching parlor suite with a sofa and a settee. Values tend to be modest as the cost of re upholstery is very expensive.
