Antique Carbon Dioxide Fire Extinguisher - US Air Force

By mdbette, 20 June, 2017
Description

My Dad was a firefighter and his department had an old carbon dioxide extinguisher at the firehouse. They didn't want it anymore, so he took it and stored it over 30 years ago. From what we know, this is a WWII era wheeled fire extinguisher from the Air Force. Made by the General Detroit Corp. and/or the General Pacific Corp. My Dad is interested in selling. He doesn't use the internet and has no idea of where to sell. Looking for some advice and/or somebody whom may be interested. Have seen a few comps on eBay, but have not seen any sold items. Hopefully this item can go to an Air Force firefighter or somewhere where it will be cherished.

There is only a specialized group of collectors for extinguishers like this, mainly Firefighter and Aviation collectors. Last one I saw like this went for $350.00.

Re: Antique Carbon Dioxide Fire Extinguisher - US Air Force

Thanks for getting back to me. Im based in England and we are restoring a Huey Helicopter for Vietnam veterans and we are looking at adding to the display period equipment etc. While we would love a extinguisher like this we think the cost would be to high time we shipped it. we are looking at converting one we have found so we are looking for detailed photos and measurements if possible of your fathers one to help us with the project. Please let me know if you need more information. Thanks for your time
