Violet Parkhurst was born in Vermont and studied at the School of Practical Arts in Boston, at Baylor University, with Frida Kahlo in Mexico City, and at Los Angeles City College. For some 45 years she owned her own gallery in the Ports of Call Village in San Pedro, California.
