Description
Have a mirror in my home that has been traced back to Paris in the 1800's and made its way to the States. I attached an article about the mirror. I was just looking to see if anyone could offer insight as to the value of such a piece.
Re: Antique Mirror
Anyone?
Re: Antique Mirror
It's what's called a Pier Mirror, it would originally have a small table mounted below it, a lot of them were used in hallways and between windows in large homes. Values for items with a provenance that can be verified sell at a premium over comparable mirrors without one. I'd suggest contacting one of the big auction houses to get a value on this one.
Re: Antique Mirror
i see quite a few in the 2-700$ range and found a few similar ones that sold for about 500$ each. with proper documentation they are worth 3 to 4 times that sometimes. find out all you can and have it documented as much as you can . all you can prove about where it was who owned it etc. when it was sold etc. lovejoy is right they have great appraisers there and might visit your house for free and let you know what they think it might bring at their auction house. but be carfe ull its no gurantee that it will bring as much as they say it will.
