Bear Cookie Jar

By CrystalGray, 8 August, 2012
Description

Hello, I am hoping you can enlighten me. I have this cookie jar and cannot find anything about it. We have emailed, talked to and called many. I had one lady (local person we know, swears she is an antique specialist) tell me she gets them all the time and they are worthless. She has not even seen this bear. I would like to know anything, a year, who the maker was, a value, anything helps. I have pictures I could send you. On the bottom it says "Bear Cookie Jar Franklin Porcelain © FP81". Thank you.

Re: Bear Cookie Jar

Your cookie jar is quite modern, but has been designed to look old and collectible. Most of these were made from the late 1970's to 80's to cash in on the memorabilia/nostalgia market which was huge at that time. As far as I'm aware "Franklin Porcelain" did not make these, they were produced for them by whatever company picked up the contract. As far as values go, when identified for what they are, under $35.00.

Re: Bear Cookie Jar

Sounds interesting. I would love to know who did make them. I do want to be 100% positive.

Re: Bear Cookie Jar

"Franklin Mint" put this out, that is their logo. I think the "81" is the year, they always date their things.
