Lane Cedar Chest

By Angela1416, 7 July, 2012
Description

I have an old Lane cedar chest that was passed down to me by family. I am looking for information on it, age? value? etc. It has stamps on the inside bottome "STYLE NO. 7736X SERIAL NO 102130" above that is stamped "PRESSURE TESTED FOR AROMA TIGHTNESS HERE". There is a "LANE Altavista, Va." stamp on the inside top and also a stamp with patent numbers. On the bottom there is a printed stamp "STYLE NO 7736 X". Any information would be appreciated.

Lane cedar chest

Lane made tens of thousands of cedar chests, they are extremely common. This one is worth about $50.

Age?

Do you have any idea how old it is? The serial number confuses me after I read more about it. It would seem to be 1910 but Lane didn't start until 1912 or another variation would be 2001 but I've had it for more than 30 years.
