Large wall mahogany and beveled mirror piece

By Linda A, 4 August, 2009
Description

Very large mahogany ornate hanging wall piece with total of six beveled glass mirrors, one large oval, one fan-shaped and four smaller ones. I'm not sure what it is actually called, but I've used it in an entryway over a gate-legged table.

Re: Large wall mahogany and beveled mirror piece

From the looks of this piece it once was the back of a late Victorian Buffet. It was not unusual for such pieces to be " Broken up" when the piece changed hands and was too tall to fit a low ceiling in its new home. I see top sections go from $250.00- $350.00 at auction.

Re: Large wall mahogany and beveled mirror piece

Thank you, Lovejoy. I've got it on Craig's list for $300 and am really wanting to sell it. I'm an antique ignoramus (except that I like them). Any idea of the age when you say "late Victorian"?
