Willets Belleek

By captiverose47, 27 June, 2009
Description

Willets Belleek vase, factory marked and artist signed ("RLW" or "RLVV") and artist dated, "10/16/11." It is 10" high and 2-7/8" wide. The handpainted, art nouveau-influenced design is deceptively simple and uses purple, a quiet green, gold, tan, black and a touch of orange to great effect on the soft cream belleek ground. No chips, cracks, scratches or loss to paint or glaze.

Re: Willets Belleek

Thanks for you message. Was it the same design as mine, or was it floral? Thanks!

Re: Willets Belleek

Hi captiverose47 ....
I checked at Kovels .... the item was only described as 12" vase , Art Nouveau design , sans image .

Willets Belleek supplied a large number of blanks to amat. & pro. ceramics painters ( it was in vogue , for awhile ) .

There's an exhibition going on through Nov. '09 at the Trenton City Museum (ellarslie.org) at the Ellarslie mansion in Cadwalader Park .
You might consider asking them if they can I.D. the artists' sig.

I'd suggest that a much clearer image of the hallmarks would be helpful to all .

Nice vase .
