US Army Officers Sword

Profile picture for user tigers80538

Description

My grandfather was in the US Army, He currently has this sword and was wondering how much it was worth. I have taken some pictures of the sword and the detail is very wonderful. My grandfather has kept the sword locked up and it is in mint condition. It has only one small area of rust and it is where the handle is attached to the sword. Pictures include the sword and the sheath.

Re: US Army Officers Sword

The detail that you see on the blade says US  and has a eagle with lots of decrative design and detail. it looks to be gold or gold plated. the sward is very heavy and is in excellant shape. My grandfather said it is older than WW2. I found similar to this online and it was being sold for about $100 and in books at a book store found one in a military book for about $250. could someone please tell me about what this is worth so i can tell my grandfather? thank you so much!
