Re: Civil War Field Desk (Complete with books, ledgers, rosters)

My daughter and I just saw you (we think) on TV and we CHEERED when you didn't take the the offer made to you. We're both history nuts (she's 9!) and are truly amazed at what a wonderful representation of such an important event you have in your possession. We wanted you to keep it for ever, but I hope you got some real offers for it and that if you really have to sell it, that it ends up somewhere that people everywhere can marvel over it.

Best of luck!

Re: Civil War Field Desk (Complete with books, ledgers, rosters)

Something like you describe would  almost be a one of a kind item , and not something even a "Ballpark" estimate is possible for. You really need to have an Appraiser or Auction house who specialize in American Civil War artifacts to check this out. Any value is going to be quess work, the true value determined by an Auction sale specializing in high end Civil War artifacts.
