Popeye Figurine Toy

By kocham_cie, 14 July, 2008
Description

Information on it. It is one of those toys that the Movie Theaters used to give away to children back in the 30's-40's-50's ect.
The toy is a lead (Popeye) figure that was made and given out in 1929. Popeye first came out in 1929 and started off as cartoon shorts before the feature film started. It is very possibly one of the 1st Popeye toys ever produced and given out. He is about.
2 1/2 inches tall
Green Base for standing, with Blue , red , yellow, and white oil based paint. On his back is stamped the following:
MADE
IN USA
(G) "in a circle"
1939
E.F.S

Was told by a Amateur Antique Collector it's value could be between 800-1200 USD, however he was an amateur. That is all I know about it. Very interested in value of item.

Re: Popeye Figurine Toy

I see, you would like to sell your "Popeye". How much will you take? Is it in good overall condition, paint not chipped beyond normal age useage, no scrapes etc.?

Re: Popeye Figurine Toy

Description Includes Popeye, Olive Oyl, and Wimpy. Marked on back "1929 KFS" which stands for King Features Syndicate and "Made in USA".    .  Size All: 3" T. Are you sure it says EFS and not a KFS? These are Hubley Popeye Paper weights . Not saying yours are these, could you take more photos, need to see the bottom and the marks, and also close up of the Tattos. If it were a door stop we are talking a lot of money..9" and taller..
