Accurate Description of Item
1886 Stump Speaker Mechanical Bank
Appraiser Remarks
According to our files the Stump Speaker Bank was patented November 16, 1886 by Charles G. Shepard and Peter Adams of Buffalo, N.Y. Adams, was the assignor to Walter J. Shepard of the same city. The patent papers covering the bank are quite detailed with three pages of drawings. These drawings first show the bank complete, then an overall cut-through back view, cut-through side view, and a page of various operating parts. The papers are usually precise and well cover the bank. It was made by the Shepard Hardware Company of Buffalo.

Values for these banks depend a great deal on their condition and provenance to a well know collection, they also require a physical appraisal to verify authenticity. In the current market comparable examples most often trade hands at specialist toy auctions in the $2500.00- $4500.00 range
Estimated Value
$2500.00- $4500.00
