Kimball has a very long history in the piano business, first as a retailer of other companies piano's and organs in 1857, then as a manufacturer of pump organs by 1877. In 1887 they built a five story facility to produce pianos, their first player pianos made circa 1901. The company became best known for it's electronic organs by the 1950's, but the market demand began to decline drastically, they remained in production producing pianos until 1996. Currently the market for Pianos is still weak, values are highest for the early 20th Century player pianos than the later models.
