1950's Lane Cedar Chest

Profile picture for user kmulcahy

Description

1950's Lane Cedar Chest (purchased by my grandmother when engaged to my grandfather).
Style Number: 2913
Serial Number: 355240
(On one of your pages, someone said that serial number meant it was made on April 25, 1953 - and 1953 is the year she said she had purchased it.)
It's 70 years old. In quite good condition for a 70 year old piece of Lane furniture. Minimal stains on the top/lid and the front panel. The inside is essentially spotless almost. The felt on the little shelf when opened could use replacement, which is something I could easily handle. Otherwise, it's in pretty great shape.
Trying to find out what it's worth now, because I'd like to sell it. I've seen sites where this model and other similar ones from the 50's were listed between $400-$650, and don't seem to be in as good of a condition as mine is.
Please let me know an approximate amount that I could sell this for, as well as the best way/place to sell it an maximize profit.
Thank you.

These chests were made in…

These chests were made in huge numbers, are not rare and routinely sell at auction for under $100.00. We find them a hard item to sell right now for much over $225.00.

If you do decide to sell…

If you do decide to sell your Lane chest, please replace the locking mechanism. Lane will replace it for free as there is a recall on all locks manufacturered before 1987. Here is the link:
