Welding Machine

By anakell, 12 January, 2009
Description

I found this 200 amp arc welder in an antique shop. I was wanting to see if anyone knows the origin of this machine. I have had a couple of appraisers tell me they were not sure about it but stated that it was over 100 years old.

Re: Welding Machine

A buddy of mine got exact same welder from his dad this past weekend, but not in quite as good condition.  We changed the plug on it and fired it right up!  We've been trying to find info on it, year it was made etc., but so far have had no luck.  We even asked a welding instructor at a local vo-tech and he had never heard of the brand Hammett.  Please let me know if you find any info.  My email is [email protected]   Thanks.

Re: Welding Machine

This was made by my great grandfather E.A.Hammett. He invented quite a few things. It's not over one hundred years old.

Re: Welding Machine

I just recieved a Hammett 250 from a friend. I am a welding instructor and we would love to fire it up at school. Is there any info avaliable about wiring scematics or replacement end for the stinger and ground cables. I think it would be super cool to let my vo-tech students compare today's technology to "the good ole day's" with a hands on application.
