Accurate Description of Item
One Early 20th Century Colonial Revival Style Suite
Appraiser Remarks
Your suite is in what is referred to as "Colonial Revival style", the style getting it's name from the fact it uses stylistic motifs from the American Colonial period (1620's-1780). Most of these pieces are not exact copies of the originals, but are composites, mixing features from English period furniture from Elizabethan to early Georgian II. Most furniture in this style was produced during the mid 1920's until World War II. Values vary considerably for these suites, depending on quality of construction, wood type and how close they follow original period designs.
From what I can see from the images provided the suite is not walnut, it appears to be maple with a dyed stain walnut/mahogany finish, very popular at the time of it's construction. Currently demand for suites like this in need of refinishing is quite modest with comparable suites often selling for under $500.00 at auction, the market where most comparable suites now sell.
