Antique gold mesh clutch purse

By Kgooch12, 18 October, 2018
Description

This was found in a storage auction among numerous other vintage and antique items. It appears to be a gold mesh clutch purse but it has no makers mark and it is lined with a foil type of material. All the other similar items are lines with cloth material. Any help on age and or value would ve great. Thank you

Re: Antique gold mesh clutch purse

Art Deco Period Gold Mesh Clutch Purse

I would guess Origin Eastern Seaboard US, At this time it was common for many dress makers would make purses to match the outfits. The hardware is of this period (kiss clasp sometimes refered too) Earlier Victorian Pieces had much fancier hardware. During the early 1930's it was common for women to carry their purse close to their body .. thus a lack of a strap or finger ring type holder.

Circa 1930's

This piece is not an antique because its under 100 years old ...  It is however a lovely Vintage Art Deco Period Clutch. probably Pre Depression 1933.

Estimate Value : $75 - $135 US pending on market and demand.

Please let me know what you think of the info I shared .....

Thanks for sharing ... this very cool piece of history ...

Peace Always
