found this at thrift store  was gonna use as astray, took home and noticed stamp,,,decided to clean and it brightend up   looked up stamp but no info

Rogers Smith and Co  began in 1857 by William Rogers Sr and George W Smith the furmed mergeed with Roger Bros Manufacturing Co  in 1867 under William. Tools and dies were bought in 1862. The company cesed to exist after the company merged in 1898.

Circa 1865 - 1877's  New Haven Conneticut. 

Roger Smith and Company Silver Plated Spitoon - Probably used in hotel or saloon.

Estimated Value $500 - $700 US pending on market fluctuation. 

Glad you never used it as an ashtray J : )
