Re: Dixie Electrical Tape Tin can

When looking at a tin like this you need to take into consideration a number of things.

Dating ... In trying to date this piece  I would figure if would be between 1925 and 1955 because Dixie stores almagamated with Winn at the time and then became Winn-Dixie Stores. Because of this fact I would further date it to between 1940 - 1950.   There was no company I found that spicifically made this product. So by default it was most likely a contract to produce these for Dixie by a local manufacturer .... This type of material (of the tape itself)  was patented in Germany in 1913. I would believe this would have not became to available the 1930's in the United States.  So my best estimate on date would be 1930 - 1950;s

These tims hold far more historical significance then monitary. As a result due to age and use of the product over the years the container is now of very little value.

Estimate valuation  $1-$2 US  possibly less .. based on condition and demand.

If this was a mint container with the original contents you would most likely be lucky to get $10 - $20 for it.

I have dealt with old containers before in prestine condition and its hard to make money off them. If this were of the subject eg beer .. it would hold more value as its more collectable.

Thanks for sharing.
