1889 Morgan Silver Dollar with a very interesting tone, details are sharp

By artprops, 27 April, 2009
Description

This is an 1889 Morgan silver dollar. It has a very interesting tone to it, as shown by the scans. I am pretty sure it has never been cleaned, my Grandmother had it all of her life and it was in the family before that. It is a very extreme dark/light contrast and features sharp details. the only major flaw that I can see in it is a nick in the neck of the busted lady. I'm not a judge on coins, though, so before I sell this I would appreciate some advice on its approximate value. I would also like to know if the interesting tone is characteristic of that year or if it is more rare and what effect, if any, it would have on the price of the coin. it seems to me, by the sharp details on the coin, that it has not been circulated much-even though somehow she did get a nick on her neck. Thanks for looking and for any help offered, Emily. oh yeah, these photos are taken from scans of the coin. I've tried to get a good picture of it with my digital camera, but have yet to figure out the delicate balance of light and angles necessary to properly photograph a coin. if anyone has any suggestions on that, I would greatly appreciate it as I have quite a few coins.
