Webster Manufacturing Co. Rocking Chair

By Wincrew, 9 May, 2017
Description

I purchased an old rocking chair at Goodwill and was hoping to get more information on it and the company it was made by. I would also like to know it's value. It is oak and looks like it origionally had a leather seat but has been reupholstered. When you turn it over, it is stuffed with hay and wool and covered with burlap and twine to hold it in place. The springs are on the outside of that. It has a label on it with Webster Manufacturing Co., Station B, Superior Wis., Finishers No.: 77, No. Chair: 299260, Finish: Go (or So, hard to tell for it is hand written), and Material: 11. Unfortunately the Date area is left blank.

Re: Webster Manufacturing Co. Rocking Chair

Mission style chairs like this tend to date 1900-1916, the style was very popular with most furniture companies producing a line of it during this period. Values for furniture of this type peaked in the 1990's, but has declined dramatically since 2000. Currently chairs comparable to this one often sell at auction for less than $150.00
