Unique Antique Sleeper Couch

By Reneross, 26 April, 2017
Description

We bought the couch about 20 years ago from an elderly friend. I could not find a similar couch like this one in the internet.

The back board, sides and base looks like solid wood. It is 86 cm high, 195 cm wide and 75 cm deep. The back board is removable by means of clip hinges and have ornate flower 'paintings' .  It still has it's original spring base with an inlaid steel frame. We have replaced the original three upholstered seats with a foam matress because it was simple too worn out. We have also placed a custom sized chip board at the base because the springs were too laxed by age. The springs are still in tact. (We actually use the couch as an extra bed when we run out of space.)

I can find no insignia on the couch except for a manufacture number as shown on the photo. I tried to find the origens, or a name of similar couches on the internet but have been unsucessful.

I would love to know more about the couch as I am quite intrigued by it.

Can you help me please?

Re: Unique Antique Sleeper Couch

No big value I'm afraid, it dates from the 1930's and looks English, it might retail for about $350.00 and go at auction for about $150.00.
