Mossman and Mauna Loa Ukulele's

Hi any information on these ukulele's would be greatly appreciated. They were given to my father many years ago and have sat in a box in the shed ever since. The Mossman was made fro J Albert & son. It's condition isnt great it has cracks . Is missing tunning keys. The bridge and neck are all intact. It has wear marks from strumming. The Mauna Loa is in better condition . Missing tunning keys . Both are very dusty but I havent tried to clean them as I dont know anyting about them and dont wont to do any further damage. Thanks for any help given..

Mauna Loa ukulele's are sweet little ukes, but not the most collectible as far as value. They were made by Lyon & Heale as part of their "budget line," but are still great sounding and looking ukes. I would estimate it would go for anywhere from $100-$175 if it were in excellent condition. I own one of the more recent versions and really enjoy it.

I don't know the complete history or an accurate valuation of the The Mossman uke, but that is a different story compared to the more common Mauna Loa, it was made by George Paele Mossman and typically made around the 1920's. In perfect condition they can go for many hundreds of dollars. I've seen them sell for around $500-750, but again that is for ones in mint condition. Since yours has cracks, is missing pegs, etc. I would say it's probably worth around $100-$250. Hope that helps.
