c. 1890 Chifferobe

Description

c. 1890 Chifferobe, a wardrobe with mirrored front and drop-front desk combination.  Has two doors and two lower drawers. Cornice top with egg and dart molding, applied linen fold farving on frienze.  Has beveled and shaped mirror with flanking turned baluster, ogee base rail, mahogany  or mahoganized hardwood.

These date from the turn of the 19th century, there was a big demand for these up to the 1990's, demand and values for them have declined a great deal since then. We currently retail examples like this now for about $800.00.

One great place to sell this lovely piece is on Craigslist.  I don't know what part of the country you are from, but I live in a major city and many antiques are bought and sold on Craigslist.  You can also go to a local dealer, but they want to make a profit, too, and that is going to come off of your end.   Try Craigslist.  What city do you live near, I might be interested in this piece.
