1953 Hand Carved & painted Japanese Pool Cue

By jlgroundhog, 26 March, 2011
Description

It's a walking stick with wooden knob & brass end. When you unscrew the top you find the bottom of the cue. You unscrew the brass end & screw in the end of the cue, screw the wooden knob back on the end. It's beautiful & I want to know the resale value.

there are several of these listed on this site, if memory serves they generally sell in the $50-100 range, depending on condition and (to a lesser degree) straightness of the cue.

Re: 1953 Hand Carved & painted Japanese Pool Cue

My father was in korean war. and bought a poolstick cane in japan. in 53. it was black, had names of villages or towns and a trail leading from one place to another (not sure where?), hand carved and/or painted  on stick cane area on the side. the cue part was solid black. he had given it to myself (his son)  Somewhere backj in the ninteen eighties, when I lived next store to my dad in El Cerrito,Ca.when I moved away  the cane was left in a corner of the closet by mistake. It was never able to be recovered.  Some body has it.  Guess it is only worth about a hundred bucks, but it is very sentimental to me. Hope some day I will get it back.
