found this bed about 5 months ago, and took it out, just by curiosity,its made out of brass ,the railing its made out of steel, i dont know much about it, and really like to know at least how old is it and if it can worth any more money than taking it to the scrap yard and sell it as brass. i like to do something with it, but need some help before i do anything. need a good recomendation please.

Iron beds of this type first became popular during the late 19th Century, but remained in production until World War One (1914). Values for these beds has fluctuated a great deal as a result of decorating trends, reaching their peak of popularity in the late 1980's. In today's market values are a good deal lower than they were 20 years ago. At auction comparable beds sell for under $300.00.
**James Shoolbred company operated what we would now call a high end department store. Much of their production was sold through a series of detailed interior design cataloges that started to appear from about 1873 onwards. These were used were used as literal pattern books in order to copy the latest London styles .
