Rare antique dining set, buffet, table and 6 chairs

By tommie cox, 4 May, 2009
Description

The lady says it was in their family winery/vineyard estate in Rosati, Missouri. She thinks it was bought in 1844. She was sure it was made in Virginia. There is a faded out label on the back and you can clearly make out Virginia Manufacturing and the words Sam Goldberg, St.Louis. The other wording isn't legible. It has been restored and is in very good condition. The table has the extension leafs that slide under the table top when not in use. I would like to know how to validate where and when it was made and of course an estimate of value for possible resale.

I have a set that looks alot like yours it was make by Landstrom around the early 1900's. I would love to know the value of your set.

Re: Rare antique dining set, buffet, table and 6 chairs

We don't know what the value is. The lady we purchased it from said she had it appraised in 1980 in McAlester,OK. It appraised for $7000 back then, but it was in original condition (which was poor). We had it restored about 10 years ago. I am looking for more information and an appraisal. I've done a little research for Virginia furinture manufacturers and can't find anything which links me to Sam Goldberg or 1844. I was hoping someone might have information. I'd like to see a picture of your set.
