interesting little pale green bowl

By artprops, 27 April, 2009
Description

This is one of my most favorite green still life items. I'm also sort of afraid and also excited that this may be one of the more valuable pieces I have that can absolutely go if the price is right. This piece looks older, maybe even before the 50's, I'm no expert by any means. It appears to have two pontil (sp?) marks on the bottom and there is very very light lettering on the bottom as well. I think one of the words is "national" but I'm not sure. I'll try to find a better magnifying glass and look at it more closely to see if I can make more of it out. Now, on to the design of this masterpiece. It has a very beautiful and complex textured pattern that shows up on the outside as well as the inside. the top of the bowl comes up into a very attractive lip. The color of the piece is a paler green. the bowl has some hard water staining on the inside. again, if you have any questions or more picture requests please let me know-and thanks again for looking, Emily.

Re: interesting little pale green bowl

I have a piece that is identical to this one except mine had a wooden lid and it is part of a pipe holder set. My grandfather used his to hold his pipe tobacco. If you get any more information on yours I would love to know what you find out.
