By racegirlrandi, 28 February, 2009
Description

its a woven typr of mesh woven real tight. This is a hefty piece and in really good shape . it has a keycut design with what appears to be maybe rose colored gold but im not sure the tassel hangs off on the end. on the inside where it would rub there is obvious wear yet the gold is still gold not like plated there are no stamps on it anywhere. the solder appears to be made of a gold also. it

Re: This may be a tough one

I can't really help with the history of this piece (since the picture is kind of unclear), but I may be able to help you get a rough time period on it.

There is a law commonly referred to as the "marking act" that requires all gold jewelry to be stamped with a karat mark and a trademark of the maker. This law came into effect in 1961 and was revised slightly in 1981. Since this piece has no stamp, I would recommend getting it tested by a jeweler. It is usually a simple electronic or acid test that is pretty inexpensive to obtain the actual Karat of the gold. If it is gold, then the piece was made before 1961, if it isn't gold, then it is probably just costume jewelry with no real value.

Hope this helps a little.
