My Grandmother had it, she said it was from a castle...not sure which one, but she was offered $5,000.00 for it in 1957. She passed away, and I have it now, but i wish i would have paid more attention to it's history

This is a 20th century Gothic style cabinet, most were made in Germany and Belgium before World War One, but have never really been out of production. At auction these sell in the $300.00- $500.00 range.

Just wondering..my uncle seems so sure that this is worth a ton of money..he was there when someone was trying to buy it from my grandmother and she had told the interested buyer it was an investment, turning down $5,000. My uncle said he was in shock, because it was in the fifties and that was a small fortune. My Grandmother had explained to him that there was only one other piece like it that was part of the set and that it came from a famous castle. Do you think this particular piece might be significant in some way?

Quick answer, No ;~). In the Antiques business one hears similar stories all the time. Family history gets garbled over time. For example, Great grandpa buy an old cabinet off a junk man named "Washington" after World War One, over three generations it's garbled to "My Dad ( who lived to be 97)said this has been in the family for years, it used to belong to Washington who sold it after the war of Independence to my great great grandfather".
While an original Gothic piece would be worth considerable money the reproductions are not. These sell at auction quite regularly, here's a link for you:
