Crolard Combination Game Board

By JBed, 14 January, 2009
Description

This is a multi game board. On one side you play Caroms, checkers, or chess.  On the other side is a felt surface where parlor croquet, ten pins, and other games can be played.  There are condition issues, the felt needs replacing, and the 4 pockets need new netting.  I would like to restore without diminishing the value.  I have contacted the Carrom Company, who would have been a competitor, but no one has seen or heard of this game version.  The label on the board says "The Parlor Game of Crolard" US Patent Sep 8, 1897 Canadian Patent Jan 4, 1898. Ed. F. Carson Patentee and Manufacturer  South Bend, Indiana.  Many of the accessory pieces are still with the game, Carrom Rings, Bowling Pins, Croquet balls and Mallet.  All items made of wood.

Re: Crolard Combination Game Board

Could the owner of this board please contact me. I am very anxious to learn as much as I can about your Crolard board. Could you contact me ASAP. I am a researcher, player and collector of American Carrom Boards in that order and God willing I hope to write someday on these great pieces of Americana. Thank you so much for your time.

Re: Crolard Combination Game Board

Are you sure you have the patent dates correct? The two patents that I have for Ed Carson's Crolard board are July 9, 1901 Both patents were filed Jan. 28, 1901. Its possible I may have missed an earlier patent date. I'll research and let you know if I find one that dates back to 1898.
