large figurine lamps. one is a man. one is a woman. they look peasant-like.

Description

these are two pix of the woman.  the man is the same size as she is.  any ideas anyone?

very heavy.... chalkware maybe? it seems to be some kind of very heavy plaster-type material

cannot find any distinguishing marks or anything

these have to be atleast 40years old. they belonged to my elderly aunt

very heavy!
History
they belonged to my elderly aunt. she had them for as long as i can remember and i am 44 yo. i have a pic of the woman.

These do appear to be chalkware, a type of plaster. most date from the turn of the 19th century through the 1930's. To test for chalkware scratch the underside of the base with a brass key, generally the key will scratch chalkware, pottery or porcelain will not generally be marked with a key.  Values for these pieces are modest, generally less than $50.00 at auction.
