Cron-Kills Drop-front Desk

Very faded, barely-readable label-insignia on the back says: "This Article Manufactured by The CRON-KILLS & CO - PIQUA, OHIO". It likely dates to between 1890 and 1920, but the catalog and shipping numbers are totally illegible, so it's hard to say. Fair condition -- definitely lived-in. It is currently on casters, but needs repair to one leg.

My mother bought a lot of antique furniture 30 or 40 years ago for our house in New Rochelle, NY --not sure how she came by it, but she was always on the lookout for bargains. In the time we've owned it, it has sometimes been useful, but a wounded leg has prevented it from really thriving in the practical world. It would require some treatment.

Your drop front desk dates from the first quarter of the 20th Century and is in what's referred to as the 'Colonial Revival style'. The style getting its name because such pieces used stylist motifs found on American Colonial furniture originally made 1620-1780. Value wise in "As Is" condition- $150.00.
