Vintage Saks Fifth Avenue Pram ca.1950's

By jeff harshman, 2 February, 2012
Description

Beautiful, removable bassinet with fold up weather shade. Sturdy frame on canopy locks securely into place using metal levers.  Thick leather-like vinyl covering is nearly intact.  There are three tiny (pencil point sixed) holes in fabric.  One is at the pinch point on the side of the canopy and looks like the metal framing pinched it while closing.  The other two are on the bottom in the middle of each side and look like they were caused by removing the bassinet from the frame at an akward angle.  None are visible without CLOSE inspection and none affect usability in any way.  The original matress and matress pad (under matress pad) are still in great shape.  The frame is metal with chrome finish.  There are some small areas of pitting but you'd have to look close to see them.  Some chrome has worn due to cleaning but is otherwise study.  Hard rubber tires are slightly cracked but still firm.  If the chrome was in better shape I would say it was in very good condition, especially considering the age of the pram.  It was only used for a few months before being stored so wear is minimal.
