Top hat lamp, hob nail, 7" tall, 9" wide

Description

This is a clear glass lamp shade in the shape of a top hat, 7" tall, 9" wide that has been electrified. Unique item with interesting lighting effects. Unable to locate anything similar on line or in catalogs.

Deceased mother purchased this lamp some time in the 1950's in or near Michigan. Unknown manufacturer.

There appears to be a Patent date on the metal frame dated May 15, 1877. The electrification system appears to have been added later. Couldn't find any other distinguishing markings.

Glass hat Lamp

Just when you think you've seen just about everything, well... something new appears ;~) I can't say I've ever seen a lamp like this "ready made" as a lamp, but I've seen a few glass hats made into shades. Gettina a value this one would be difficult, as I've nothing on file for one like it either going back 10 years. This does not mean it is worth huges amounts of money, just that it's unusual. If I had it in the store I'd list it for under $400.00.
