Description
This Card is very unique, in that it is from the era before Trading Card Companies. The Front of the card is ALL HAND DRAWN by "AL DEMAREE", the PITCHER for the N.Y. GIANTS from 1918 - ? The back of the card has the stats of "Ulysses John Lupien" "First Sacker" for THE HOLLYWOOD STARS, Pacific Coast League. The back also has an advertisement for "FRED HANEY, Signal's ACE Sportscaster", on KLAC Radio DIAL 570. There is also an add for "SIGNAL GASOLINE", who were the makers and distributor of this card.

I was recently going through my father's belongings and found a card
just like yours for a different player. I found your post in my research. My
player is Xavier Rescigno, the notorious "Mr. X". He is known for his stint
with the Pittsburgh Pirates but my KLAC/Fred Haney/Signal Gasoline card
shows him as a player for the Hollywood Stars.

these cards appear to be fairly scarce, here's what centuryoldcards.com has to say:
"These cards were made for 5 of the 8 Pacific Coast League teams in 1947, with some teams being scarcer than others. They are 5.5" by 3.5" horizontal designed cards made from drawings by former big leaguer Al Demaree. The backs show an ad for Signal Gasoline and a radio station. In the set there are 20 different Hollywood players, 18 different Los Angeles players, 19 different Oakland players, 16 different Sacramento players, and 16 different Seattle players."
That being said; they don't seem to be worth a whole lot, I see several selling in the $15 range, and entire sets selling for around $100-200, hope this helps!
