"Stradiuarius" Violin by Merson

Hello, 

I'm trying to determine the value (if any) of a Merson Violin which I bought at an antique fair in Massachusetts some years ago. It is a 3/4 sized instrument. The product tag on the interior of the instrument reads "Merson Violins: adjusted to MENC specifications for perfect performance." There is another part which reads, "Symphonie Concert Model Serial No. 3372" Underneath this label is a stamp--of which only the tail end is visible but judging from a similar inquiry, seems to read " Stradiuarius" followed by a 716.

 

If anyone could help me determine the origins and/or value of this instrument I would be very appreciative indeed.

The man I purchased it from was a vendor at the Brimfield Antique Show in Massachusetts. He estimated it was a student violin, made in Germany sometime in the late 19th century. He didn't profess to know any more than that.
