SATSUMA JAPANESE PORCELAIN VASE

Description

Beautiful Satsuma Japanese Porcelain Vase. Hand-painted ceramic with relief decorations of raised enamel. Charming scene with both male and female immortal subjects. Place of origin is Japan. Dimensions are: 12.5" H, Diameter: 23.5". The condition of this vase is good, but it does have one small crack at the base of the vase. There is a hole in the bottom stuffed with cork. Wear is consistent with the age and use. There are no markings or signature.This vase was purchased by my grandmother over 80yrs. ago.

History
All that I know that my grandmother purchased this vase in New York over 80yrs. ago. Once she passed, my mother inherited it. It has been packed away for many years and just recently discovered by my mother while she was going through some of my grandmothers old items.

Sounds like at some point this vase was converted to a lamp, hence the hole with a cork in it. Vases in comparable condition generally sell at auction for under $100.00.
