Purses and Hats

By minibac, 10 September, 2012
Description

All Purses and Hats were owned by the same woman and I guess them to be 1950s Hats and 1950s Purses.  You decide.  They were all gifted to me from girlfriend as they were her Mothers.  Her Mother shopped at high-end Department stores in Dallas, TX.     Also have several gorgeous dresses, skirt suits and fur collarded coat but those all have tiny little moth holes.  If you need photos of the clothes to determine better dating of purses and hats, then let me know.  One of the purses looks to have Bakelite handles, another looks to be made from opalescent sea shells.  All of the Hats are Fur, not sure what type of Fur.  The Pink Purse has matching high-heels but the heels are in bad condition.  The Feather Earrings are in really bad condition.  See Photos of all.  Please feel free to email for me to take additional photos of any.

Re: Purses and Hats

two of your bags would have a nice resell value, the one with the bakelite handles and the one with the shells....both would definitely have collector value...and would price if in excellent condition, $75-100 in a good vintage store....the others, unless they are of a famous designer, don't have the look buyers want today.  Furs are not as popular as they once were, and most vintage clothing places, won't touch them due to the backlash.  Vintage clothing unless made by a famous designer must be wearable, so if it has moth holes or other damage, it has little resell value.

ps...if you can't sell the rest you might want to see if you ahve a local theatre group that may want them for their costume department.

Re: Purses and Hats

To nekonook 9.10.12 - 7:16pm - You suggested offering them (gratis) to a local theatre group - What a BANNER idea!  I adore you for gifting me with the suggestion.  I have Howard Payne Univ. here in little Brownwood, TX (went to see their production of South Seas) I positively LOVE your idea.  Thank you!
