Polyglott Bible

By SSmith74, 30 March, 2020
Description

My gr gr grandfather was a Quaker minister. He lived from 1820 to 1897.  Recently my cousin found a Polyglott Bible in a bag in her garage.  It was printed in 1871.  I have searched online but have not seen one like it.  It is black leather and about 4"x 6", small enough to carry in a saddlebag.  I am sure it was my gr gr grandfathers and I would love to find out more about it.

Thanks and God Bless, Sandy

Re: Polyglott Bible

Hello!

Hard to pinpoint your exact edition from the photos, but a nice book indeed!

I did find the 1867 english edition for sale here: https://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=6081098457&searchurl=an%3Dthe%2Bpolyglott%2Bbible%26sortby%3D20%26tn%3Dthe%2Bpolyglott%2Bbible&cm_sp=snippet-_-srp1-_-title2

And here is an 1844 version that looks similar to yours: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1844-English-Version-of-the-Polyglott-Bible/152637641580?_trkparms=aid%3D1110001%26algo%3DSPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225663%26meid%3D006ff85efa7743a585b2a8c881241d69%26pid%3D100010%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D173630123244%26itm%3D152637641580%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109

Sorry I can't help you more, but atleast you know approx. what it's worth.

Re: Polyglott Bible

Thank you Sourcreamking for your response and thank you for looking online.  I have also searched online and have not found anything exactly like it.  I doesn't really matter though, it is priceless to me since it was my gr gr grandfather's.

Thanks again and God Bless,

Sandy
