Meyers Spalti Mfg. Co. Houston, TX Bedroom set, bed, dresser, vanity and vanity stool

By margail, 24 July, 2012
Description

The dresser and vanity have the red and white label which has Myers Spalti Mfg. Co. Houston, TX, Pattern # 991 and Finish: Wal on the back.  The vanity stool has I believe the original material.  It is a full size head and footboard and the dresser and vanity are in good condition with some discoloration or spots on the top.  The mirror on the vanity is still in fair condition.  I have pictures of all these pieces.  I bought these items at an estate sale about 20 years ago and have decided to downsize and would like to sell the items all together.  It is a lovely bedroom set and hopefully someone with be as happy with it as I have been. The knobs on the vanity and dresser are a brown plastic but I believe are the originals.

Don't know how much this set is worth but I do have some info for you....you set is not in original condition...it has been refinished...the drawer pulls are not original and neither is the cloth on top of the stool ,

tge he original stain on the wood is a lighter brown than yours.

The he original drawer pulls are metal.

tge original cloth on the stool is brown.

i know all of this because I own the set as well...

my my great grandparents purchased it new in 1914 and then it has been passed down from feneration to generation.

if u do ever find out how much it is worth...please get in touch as I am interested in knowing that also

Re: Meyers Spalti Mfg. Co. Houston, TX Bedroom set, bed,...

I have this exact set with all pieces. The handles on mine are identical to the ones pictured. The stool does have a brown top made out of a heavy woven fabric. Looks similair to burlap.
Maybe different handles were available on new sets. I'm the third owner and was told it was from the mid 1820's to mid 30's. Would love any information availabe on this set. Maybe sets could be purchased with lighter or darker stains too as mine is the same color as pictured. The label on back says walnut.
