Large wooden antique chest

Description

Hand carved gorgeous wooden chest measures 40"L X 20"W X 18"H and is carved on all sides and the lid, many ships, scenery, bamboo, engraved flowers and oriental man head and torso on the clasp.  All original. 

  Dates pre 1942, as this is when my sister in law received it from her brother in law as a wedding gift, and it had been in his family for a very long time before then.

Gorgeous wood grain inside, in good to excellent condition

Chests like these were mainly made in China for the Export market from about 1900 onward, ones like this tend to postdate 1920.  While not mass produced in the modern sense of the term the were made in rather large numbers, generally at auction they sell for under $200.00
