History
Hi I was looking for information on this piece. My grandmother collected antiques her whole life and I'm not sure when she obtained this. All I know is it was in her home well before I was born (I'm 44) and I've had it since her passing 20+ years ago. I was always told it was a Jenny Lind bed but I can find none like it online. Looking for a year, brand, price, any information you have would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your help! - Jenny

Jenny Lind was a famous…

Jenny Lind was a famous Swedish Opera singer who toured America with P.T. Barnum, owner of the well known Circus. It is said she loved the design of these Spool turned beds and they became forever associated with her. The original spool beds date from the second to third quarter of the 19th century, the Revival types are reproductions and tend to date 1900-1930, the style revived again in the 1980's . Values for all of them , with the exception of the original daybeds like this one are currently modest, daybeds are selling for $400.00-$600.00.
