Heavy stone 4 handled bowl

By nalanala, 7 August, 2009
Description

Heavy stone bowl or vessel with 4 handles. Hand carved low relief of Incan?, mayan? figures of three holding spears?(as pictured) in series of boats with additional series of uniform geometric patterns as borders. Color is mostly acurate with deeper saturated gold with dark black painted? areas. Inside consists of smooth surface and appears to have been turned on a lathe with subtle perfectly round circular pattern formed on both sides and bottom with a small pin dot closed area on base. Really neat geometric carvings appear to have been done by hand. Overall weight is about 2 pounds. Any info as to what this is would be appreciated as I cannot find it on the internet. Thanks.
