Description

I believe it is a credence table and possibly 17th century. I would like help identifying where, when and by whom this piece was made, and a potential value. It is solid oak. The top is one inch thick X 36 inches across the back and 17.5 inches at the deepest. It is all held to the base by hand carved pegs/dowels.Below the top is an apron of deeply carved arches with pendant finials. The corners have large hand carved rectangular plugs covering the joints. It stands on 4 boldly turned bulbous legs. Below is a shelf with a carved scroll skirt. It is 30.5 inches from the floor to the top surface. The scalloped apron is about 7 inches. The bottom shelf is 33 inches across the back and 16 inches across the frontIt is all held together by mortise and tenon joints and hand carved pegs. There is a void at a back foot. There is a very old paper label saying it was made in England.
