Clarksville Liquor Co. Whiskey Jug

By clegens, 16 April, 2020
Description

Whiskey jug from Clarksville Liquor Co. located in Clarksville, TN, at 1st Street & Strawberry Alley. Clarksville Liquor Co. was in operation from 1903-1910. Herman Marx was the owner / operator. He moved to Memphis around 1911-1912 and opened a saloon / novelty shop called Marx of Memphis. He was arrested in 1914 for violating the 4-mile law. He was also rumored to be a member of the Night Riders during the Black Patch tobacco wars. This jug was found buried in West Tennessee on an old homestead. It has some cracks that look to be previously repaired but is otherwise in good condition. Just curious about its value. Not looking to sell.
